Wonderingstars is a cultural association established in 2011 that focuses on local specialities, taking inspiration from an idea of Carlo Zucchini, warrantor of the legacy of Bolognese painter Giorgio Morandi to Bologna City Council, who provided the association with a notebook of recipes belonging to the great artist’s sisters.
The association’s research is developed in several directions: namely the finding of products and personalities in contemporary cuisine that are able to reinterpret old recipes with a modern twist, and the construction of a theatrical space able to involve elements of a common heritage:
from Giorgio Morandi to Parmigiano Reggiano, from objects of design inspired by the great artist to re-elaborated versions by master chefs.
The Aroundmorandi project – still life with bread and lemon – is the expression of this research.
ACTIVITIES
Aroundmorandi aims to explore and promote various forms of creativity inspired by Giorgio Morandi, a great Bolognese artist renowned worldwide.
The Aroundmorandi project plans for the installation of a stage design recalling Morandi – a long table set with objects of contemporary design inspired by the work of the painter who loved to depict objects linked to cooking.
A festival, lasting several days, revolves around the installation, in which internationally renowned chefs and cultural hosts (artists, designers, actors, critics, curators) take part to reinterpret the suggestions and recipes of the Morandi household in a contemporary way.
The Morandi stage can be completed with exhibitions of Morandi’s original works or of works and objects inspired by the artist.
