Ilturco is an association founded in Ferrara in 2016 to support and promote the cultural, architectural and botanical heritage of the area. The core of the association's initiatives is mostly private heritage: palaces, gardens, courtyards that belong to families and companies, places and buildings that deserve to be preserved, discovered and rediscovered, renovated, enjoyed and shared. To facilitate these processes it is necessary to involve the community, the inhabitants and shop owners, the students and the tourists. Among the various activities, the team deals with the organization of site specific events and projects, engaging in historical research and in the development of content that can inform, amuse and arouse attention and wonder in a public spanning across different generations. The goal is to make people aware of and take care of their territory.
ACTIVITIES
Among the initiatives organized by Ilturco the best known and successful is Interno Verde in Ferrara (Green interior in Ferrara): a festival that every year, in mid-May, opens to the public dozens of secret gardens, places of great charm and historical interest, which exceptionally, for a weekend, are transformed from private spaces to shared spaces. Among the site specific projects, the most recent is SuperCinema Apollo, which in December 2018 pieced together and told (through a video-installation spread along different venues) the story of the first multiplex cinema in Ferrara, which up to 1961 was located in what today is the street via Gobetti.
