Officine Baco – Makers Piace
Fifth edition winner
Officine Baco is a non-profit organisation that has been operating in the Piacenza area since 2015 with the aim of spreading maker culture and promoting the technologies associated with digital fabrication, those tools that make it possible to transform bits (a digital file on your computer) into atoms (a tangible object). In particular, the organisation deals with 3D printing, laser cutting and project development with open source electronic boards like Arduino and Raspberry Pi. The team consists of 3 people: Luca Gregori, Pietro Saccarini and Paolo Tacchinardi.
ACTIVITIES
The Makers Piace project is focused on promoting maker technologies to creatives, engineers, students and companies through the following activities:
• Training courses: introduction to 3D printing, Electronics (Arduino and Raspberry Pi) and Laser cutting; courses are held at the Urban Hub of Piacenza
• Consulting: meetings with companies and individuals having an idea for the development of a product and together assessing the possibility of realising it with the aid of the technologies available in the lab.
• 3D printing service: to a lesser extent 3D prints are produced on demand for those not interested in acquiring their own printer. Currently Officine Baco is the only organisation in Piacenza offering this type of service.
