Le città sottili – Associazione Kepler 452

The Kepler-452 theatre company was established in 2015, built on the different experiences of a group of young people under 30 with various skills in theatre/acting, artistic/visual and architectural/structural fields. The company’s goal is to undertake projects that socially bring together young people under 30 using artistic phenomena. Their programme involves different fields: production of theatrical performances, organisation of events, exhibitions of contemporary art, cultural design in partnership with public and private entities, management of cultural spaces and artistic direction of events. The intent is to create moments of fusion and intersection between theatre, visual arts and music. Kepler 452 is headquartered in Bologna, where since 2014 it has organised the 2030 Festival at the Oratory of St. Filippo Neri.
ACTIVITIES
“What makes it worth a visit?” From this question arises the “Le città sottili” (“Subtle Cities”) project, with the intention of presenting Bologna to visitors by shining a light on the events that have shaped the city in the past and still do so today.
Real and imaginary data intersect in an ad hoc way in which the public is constantly challenged to test the limits of their credulity and sense of wonder. Employing a well-established system, Kepler 452 interviews some citizens and selects and processes the most interesting stories, and then builds a path that passes through the city and animates actors/performers who interact with the narration through the headphones, giving substance to the events that are evoked through storytelling. Not just in the city’s historical centre, but also in outlying areas, increasing their attractiveness as well.
