GPS Turismo
Fifth edition winner
“GPS Turismo” is a non-profit organisation that, through the News Appennino app – a free download for Android and Apple – has the objective of promoting the Apennines of Bologna and Modena through the listing of points of interest, events and local festivals, not to mention the digital inclusion of hiking trails.
The News Appennino app is constantly being updated and is connected to the major social networks, allowing the end user to know in advance the states of the various trails, but also to plan a full vacation. Currently the app provides news about the provinces of Bologna and Modena, but over time it will expand to include other areas of theTuscan-Emilian Apennines.
Moreover, future plans call for a city trekking section and collaborations with local schools to provide historical itineraries.
ACTIVITIES
The activities carried out by the association include:
• Digital mapping of trails for hiking in the Apennines thanks to the cooperation of nature lovers and reviews of the various locations based on shared comments, photos and videos.
• The promotion of local tourism with the reporting of events and festivals, communicated in advance for a better enjoyment of the local area by tourists thanks to notifications that update the app in real time.
• An advertising service for businesses and restaurants that want to use the app to increase their visibility.
