Masera Centro Sperimentale Di Arte Contemporanea
Seventh edition winner
Masera Centro Sperimentale Di Arte Contemporanea is a cultural association whose objective is developing a major contemporary work of Land-art, located on a hill at Savigno, in Valsamoggia : an environmental and cultural renovation operation that could create a new type of tourist offer. The members of the association have different backgrounds, ranging from contemporary art, to theatre, to management and they believe in art and in culture as powerful social catalysts and instruments of promotion of the local area. The Association is based in a location fully engulfed by nature and far from the city, but despite that it has, since its earliest days, been conceived as an international artistic reference point. Four hectares of arable land are the site of a visual and participatory Land-Art work.
ACTIVITIES
The work, co-designed by the Antonello Ghezzi collective and by the the Faculty of Biological Sciences of Bologna, includes sowing of flower seeds that can guarantee a greater flowering time. This creation will be visible from the valley, thanks to the profile of the terrain: the idea is inspired by the 'Hanami', a Japanese term that means 'enjoying the beauty of flowering' and part of the activity is the picking up of flowers, regularly. The whole project will be completed by the making of essences (and oils for perfumery laboratories and also by laboratories dedicated to schools, exhibitions, theme evenings and tastings.
