Smell – Olfactory Festival is an event dedicated to the culture of smell and the art of perfumery.
Francesca Faruolo is the creator and director of Smell Festival project and of related initiatives, from Smell – Atelier of Olfactory Arts, to Smell Magazine, and most recently OSA! Outsider Scents Award. She is involved in the culture of the smell and art of perfumery, promoting events, holding courses and conferences and acting as the curator of artistic events and editorial projects.
Giuseppe Caruso plays a key role in the organization of all activities related to Smell Festival. He also dedicates his time to the composition of fragrances for some of the Festival’s productions and co-productions, ranging from theatrical events to olfactory installations.
Veronica Faruolo is a strategic consultant and provides support concerning foreign public relations.
ACTIVITIES
Smell Festival was held for the first time in Bologna in 2010 and every year proposes a programme ranging from historic and scientific studies to meetings with fragrance creators, to olfactory installations with the participation of Italian and International guests.
In August 2016, the event will debut in Puglia, with a special summer edition in Carovigno and the Torre Guaceto Nature Reserve. Throughout the year, activities continue with Smell – Atelier of Olfactory Arts, an innovative training program dedicated to the aesthetics and design of perfumes.
The activities are all documented in Smell Magazine, the publication dedicated to art and the culture of smell.
