Laminarie
@ DOM - la cupola del PilastroNinth edition winner
The Laminarie company, founded in 1994 by Febo Del Zozzo and Bruna Gambarelli, is based in Bologna; in 2009 it won the tender for the management of a peripheral space in the city of Bologna where it founded DOM la cupola del Pilastro. Since 2014 DOM has been recognised as institutional theatre belonging to the city's theatre system and since its opening it has been hosting cultural activities, combining experiences from different artistic fields of national and international value, aimed at a heterogeneous audience. LAMINARIE's main objective is the study of original languages in the field of contemporary theatre. The company works within the framework of national and international exhibitions and festivals of contemporary theatre and children's theatre and carries out cultural projects with international realities chosen for their affinity with the research paths followed by the company. Since the beginning, Laminarie's research has been related to contemporary artistic languages such as visual arts, architecture and cinema. This multidisciplinary approach is manifested both in the intertwining of expressive methods that characterises the company's research, and in the development of projects that are able to interweave different areas, contexts and audiences. For its activities Laminarie received in 2012 the highest award of the national theatre community, the UBU special prize, with the following motivation: 'Dom of Laminarie, a space that works on the boundaries between production in residence and hospitality, between city and periphery, between migration and memory, between childhood and adulthood, between theatrical research and listening to the surrounding environment at the Pilastro district of Bologna.
