@ Orchestra dei Giovani EuropeiNinth edition winner
The Young Musicians European Orchestra is a start-up of musicians with an average age of 23, forming an orchestra of 20 to 100 members. It is a flexible group whose repertoire can range from baroque to romantic to contemporary music. Its main events include: the Christmas Concerts since 2011, initially held in Ravenna and Forlì and then also in Rome, Jerusalem, Bethlehem and Genoa; tours in Iran in 2017 and in China in 2018, and collaborations with the Bach-Chor of Munich and musicians from North Korea in 2019. The Artistic Director of Ymeo is Ignacio Abalos Ruiz. The orchestra also frequently collaborates with Maestro Paolo Olmi.
THE SPECIAL PROJECT 2020
During the lockdown and the closure of theatres, the members of the European Youth Orchestra equipped themselves to play and study together via the web, in order to be prepared for the reopening, also by shooting videos in significant cultural sites in the area. Streaming rehearsals and video production made it possible to withstand the closure of performance venues and to reduce the costs for the preparation of events, thus balancing the drop in revenue; the new practices will also be useful once the emergency is over.
